It is no secret that everyone has complained on and on about millennial ruining most things. There have been articles in the media blaming millennials for ruining marriage, ruining the diamond industry, to people simply complaining that millennials have to easy and are moving out from their parents house later than other generations because they are just lazy. Well, millennials are finally striking back with the shortest and most irrefutable comeback to whatever complaint older folks direct at us: OK Boomer.
The phrase was born in the social media app Tik Tok where people post short videos often utilizing existing audio clips. After making the rounds in Tik Tok the phrase has gone popular in the whole web and even made it into the New Zealand congress when a Green Party representative that was addressing the impending climate crisis we face was interrupted and simply dropped the phrase “OK Boomer”.
Many people are classifying the use of the phrase as a rupture between inter generational relations or complain that utilizing the phrase won't solve any problems but the reality is that the boomer generation has no interest in taking responsibility for the damage they have caused and don't want to give millenials a break when they are the ones that have to deal with a broken system. The phrase has become so popular that people are now selling merchandise with it and also littering with stickers of it.
