In 2018, Swedish 16 year old Greta Thunberg began a climate crisis awareness protest in front of the Swedish parliament that is now known widely across the world as the movement Fridays For Future. In a TED Talk given by Thunberg in August of 2018, she challenged leaders on the lack of priority given to the subject, and the injustices caused buy climate inequity propelled on developing countries from first world nations.

After questioning whether or not the human race is evil for the lack of care shown to the climate and species extinction, Thunberg suggests that in fact…
“people keep doing what they do, because the vast majority doesn’t have a clue about the consequences for their way of life.”
This isn’t a typical cadence for a 16 year old, and that’s the best part of her stance. Pleas for change and action that stems from an adult, typically erect emotions of uncertainty because there are fears of what motives that voice is being played through.
This TED Talk may be the most important lecture to ever be released…and it comes from a teenager with Asperger’s syndrome. By speaking to those both on and off the autism spectrum, Thunberg is shaping the future by simultaneously shaping the future of her peers, shifting their mindsets into one of proactivity and encouragement to become active with the changes they wish to see in the world rather than passive.
